Tony Miano from Cross Encounters explains how to use the Law properly in Biblical Evangelism.
A tool we have found to be the most effective way to learn and recall the Ten Commandments.
This teaching will help you to remember key stepping stones to powerful Biblical principles of using the Law in evangelism.
Notes and resources for 1/23/2022 class
If you don’t make clear the Trinity in your gospel presentations, here are three consequences…
They won’t understand Jesus
He will seem less than an outsider
They won’t understand the cross
The One on the cross is the One who made us. And He is perfectly expressing the love of His Father (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:10).
So many gospel presentations look like (or even explicitly say that) Christ buys off a reluctant and angry Judge, rather than Christ demonstrating the very love of God in substituting Himself for sinners.
You’ll define God as Creator and Judge
And what does it mean to relate to this kind of God? It can only mean one thing: submission.
So the gospel can only be unpacked as “bowing the knee to our Creator and Judge” and salvation is essentially avoiding being crushed by the higher power.
Atheist objections
We just believe in one less God than you?
Debunked! Answer “your right!” but thats like saying "You're a bachelor too I just have one less wife than you do" :)
Three gods one god is a logical fallacy. The law of non contradiction
We don’t believe in three gods we believe in one God three persons.
Three whos, and one what.
Person and being
I could never be religious.
Many say they could never be married, but then they meet the one.
Suffering rules out God
Which God? To be sure many gods are incompatible with suffering but what about the crucified God?
WHY DO PEOPLE NOT RESPOND TO THE MESSAGE OF THE GOSPEL?
Explaining the Gospel… This only makes sense if they know why it's good news!
Using the law of God (the Ten Commandments) to reveal our sin to prepare the way for the good news.
Only the sick seek a cure. Show people their need (sin) and the Gospel message makes sense!
Which god?
Resources for the 1/17/2022 class
Use the resources below to help you study and have an answer!
Above is a fantastic teaching you can listen to and also read the study notes. It will help immensely in your study!
There is only one God
The first step is to establish how many Gods exist: one! Isaiah 43:10; 44:6, 8; 45:5, 14, 18, 21,22; 46:9; 47:8; John 17:3; 1 Cor. 8:5-6; Gal. 4:8-9
“Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me,” (Isaiah 44:6).
“…Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of none,” (Isaiah 44:8)
“I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God,” (Isaiah 45:5).
The Trinity is one God in three distinct, simultaneous, persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father is not the same person as the Son; the Son is not the same person as the Holy Spirit; and the Holy Spirit is not the same person as Father. They are not three gods and not three beings. They are three distinct persons; yet, they are all the one God. Each has a will, can speak, can love, etc., and these are demonstrations of personhood. They are in absolute perfect harmony consisting of one substance. They are coeternal, coequal, and copowerful. If any one of the three were removed, there would be no God.
Jesus, the Son, is one person with two natures: Divine and Human. This is called the Hypostatic Union. The Holy Spirit is also divine in nature and is self-aware, the third person of the Trinity.
There is, though, an apparent separation of some functions among the members of the Godhead. For example, the Father chooses who will be saved (Eph. 1:4); the Son redeems them (Eph. 1:7); and the Holy Spirit seals them, (Eph. 1:13).
A further point of clarification is that God is not one person, the Father, with Jesus as a creation and the Holy Spirit is a force (Jehovah’s Witnesses). Neither is He one person who took three consecutive forms, i.e., the Father, became the Son, who became the Holy Spirit. Nor is God the divine nature of the Son (where Jesus had a human nature perceived as the Son and a divine nature perceived as the Father (Oneness theology). Nor is the Trinity an office held by three separate Gods (Mormonism).
The word “person” is used to describe the three members of the Godhead because the word “person” is appropriate. A person is self-aware, can speak, love, hate, say “you,” “yours,” “me,” “mine,” etc. Each of the three persons in the Trinity demonstrates these qualities.
The Trinity: One God, Three Persons
Having established that there is but one God, we turn to the biblical data showing that the one God is three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
FATHER
SON
HOLY SPIRIT
Called God
Creator
Resurrects
Indwells
Everywhere
All knowing
Sanctifies
Life giver
Fellowship
Eternal
A Will
Speaks
Love
Searches the heart

Therefore, the doctrine of the Trinity is arrived at by looking at the whole of scripture, not in a single verse.
It is the doctrine that there is only one God, not three and that the one God exists in three persons: Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
